Our director of non-human resources Peppi is already feeling the Friday effect.

Our director of non-human resources Peppi
is already feeling the Friday effect.

Sometimes we surf the web, too. Oh, don't act so shocked, everyone does it.

These links have been obtained by clicking around the great kottke.org.

  • Quintina apparently refers to a weird fifth voice emerging when four throat-singers harmonize in just the right way. There are some audio samples here. Kinda creepy.

  • Two actually funny LOLCAT-pictures (that, incidentally, don't contain cats): abort! abort! and EMO BATH IS PENSIVE.

  • I'm not even interested in fashion related things, but The Sartorialist is strangely hypnotic. Apparently it is by a guy who strolls around with a camera and when he spots an interesting person he asks if he can take a picture.

  • Photoshop disasters chronicles, well, Photoshop disasters such as the mutant Lady Guinevere. Speaking of which, here's a page about Photo Tampering Throughout History.

This TED talk by David Gallo reminded me why one shouldn't eat and surf at the same time. I almost choked to my bread during the last clip. The talk includes, quoting, "a shape-shifting cuttlefish, a pair of fighting squid, and a mesmerizing gallery of bioluminescent fish that light up the blackest depths of the ocean".

There's also a documentary about Lemurs starring John Cleese as himself at Google Videos.

If this wasn't enough, then destroy the remaining fragments of your friday productivity with some Macintosh Stories or Halcyon Days: Interviews with Classic Computer and Video Game Programmers. Or The Impossible Quiz (click the "PLAY THIS GAME!"-link).

Okay, here's my Friday effect links:

  • I love science fiction and this place Hulu seems to have a lot of the more obvious ones like Firefly and Battlestar Galactica but they can only be enjoyed online if you have access to an american IP-address.

  • You can also catch the not-so-obvious science fiction shows like Lexx and Sky Girls from Veoh

  • For movie gossip I occasionally read the clever iwatchstuff.com news blog

  • Last but not least I would like to share something (almost) totally not related to science fiction - There's this interesting new social networking web site that has spread quite nicely .. or should I say hereditarily in my circle of trust

Have a fun weekend everybody!
